How to Get a Social Life

Do you find yourself alone at home on a typical night, eyes glued to the TV or the PC monitor? Have you forgotten the last time you discussed a book you read, a concert or show, sports or even politics with other people outside your home or office? If you do, then it’s time to go out, rejoin society, and get a life!

There are seven simple steps to an active social life. Pursuing intellectual or artistic interests outside the house is more fun if you get to share it with other people, and can lead to good conversation and other fun activities. Being socially active also opens up many opportunities for dating attractive and cool women. Immediately do the following:

Cancel your full cable TV or the paid internet-based video and TV service. Besides, they can be way too expensive. This goes a long way in inspiring you to interact with other human beings. If you’re a real TV fanatic, there are local caf?’s or nightspots that sponsor “TV nights”, where you could watch “Lost” with other people and afterwards have a good talk about it over drinks with the other viewers.

Play computer games at the net caf?’s where game geeks can converge and enjoy friendly or serious “Madden NFL” or “Doom 3” competitions as players or spectators.

Cancel your online shopping or allow your amazon.com, shopping.com and eBay user accounts to be inactive for a while. Abstain from doing all of your grocery and shopping online. The convenience that net shoppers enjoy can sometimes come at the expense of meeting other people. Take a friend with you to the mall for items like clothes or personal electronic items. Don’t be afraid to engage the shopkeepers, clerks and other shoppers – especially any pretty girl looking over the latest iPod at the local Apple shop – in friendly conversation. Finding out about your shop item and talking to people could open up opportunities for meeting and connecting with cute strangers. You can’t do much better than walking away with an email address or a cellphone number for further “product discussions” through mail, calls or SMS. You might even develop your own icebreaker or opening lines when shopping.

Avoid eating take out or deliveries too frequently. Exert effort to eat out with co-workers or friends, even at no frills and (conveniently) no-fuss diners. You can even start an informal dining club, organizing trips to authentic cuisine or ethnic restaurants. Group dining dates in Turkish or Korean restaurants present excellent opportunities for fun.

Get an activity partner or join a group. These are interests or hobbies that you can probably do weekly with a buddy or a small club. Local newspapers, news boards or community newsletters sometimes contain ads of persons looking for a running buddy – or an activity partner for a lot of other different hobbies like cross-stitching, dog training, riding, cycling. There are also community search or group interest websites where you can find people with whom you share a common interest. If you want, you can let your new buddy know you’re single and available and talk them into introducing you to prospective dates, or set up blind dates for you.

Scour your city or community’s social calendar for interesting plays, art exhibition, musicals, classical or pop concerts. Indulge your interest in the arts by seeing visiting artists or artwork exhibits. Once a particular art form strikes your fancy, it usually leads to a little more study in its background to understand its essence. These activities would increase your knowledge and equip you in conversations with “artsy” people.

Donate time and effort to community charity events or causes. These activities do not only enrich the community, but could let volunteers bond with other cause-minded individuals. There are always schoolhouses or playgrounds to build or fix, or soup kitchens or green area cleanup drives that you can give time to. Now, there are even singles volunteer networks where you can socialize and bond with other volunteers after the event.

Once you’ve gotten through the above activities, it would be a cinch to think up other cool activities to go out and mingle. There are local coed sports clubs or athletic teams, music bands, book clubs, wine or beer tasting clubs, the list goes on and on. Just pick a few that interests you most and mix them regularly to have some variety in your social life. You’ll find that you will enjoy being out there with other people so much that even getting a date won’t be much of a hassle anymore.

Mind Mapping Basics

A creative alternative to an Outline is a Mind Map. Mind maps work the way the brain works, which is association-driven not linear. When you think of an idea, your thoughts and feelings around that idea may be in the thousands. Each thought may be linked to images, words, or even smells. A mind map helps you explore those linkages and reinforce the relationships that are supportive to your goals. Also, your mind generally thinks in concepts and images not complete sentences.

Since a mind map is visual and shows the connections between key words and concepts, the information is stored in a way that makes it easier to recall later. Additionally, since a mind map starts from the center and works out, it opens avenue of thought that are closed off in an outline. You have freedom to consider more than the one previous thought written on the page. You will find that your mind guides the organization of the ideas rather than the structure of the outline; thereby, encouraging creativity.

MIND MAPPING TIPS

While mind mapping is very individual, here are some of tips that have been proven to work over time:

1. Use just key words, or phrases

2. Start from the center of the page and work out.

3. The center should be a general theme of the map. (I prefer to use a circle for the center theme).

4. Create other centers for sub-themes. (I use squares for second level ideas).

5. Use Print rather script as it makes them more readable

6. If it stands out on the page, it will stand out in your mind.

7. Use arrows to show links between different elements.

8. Explore what’s hot in your mind, don’t force ideas.

9. Let your ideas flow. Don’t judge the thought, just capture it.

POPULAR USES OF MIND MAPS

Think Creatively. Whenever you want to think “outside the box”, mind maps can help. You will be amazed at how rapidly the new ideas flow. Every item on your mind map has the potential to generate another mind map.

Take Notes. Mind maps help organize your notes and puts the ideas into context easily. This allows the information to be incorporated into your brain more easily. Use them to take notes for books, lectures, meetings, interviews, or even phone calls.

Memorize. Mind maps are effective in storing new information in your brain in an optimum way for recall. The key words and concepts are appropriately organized into the proper context.

Solve Problems. Mind maps show the relationships between items. Often, the solution to problems lies in resolving the connections between parts. By sharing a mind map with a co-worker or friend, you will be able to communicate issues the way you see them.

Plan. Whether it’s a complex project or a vacation, mind maps will enable you to put all of the relevant information down on paper. Then, it’s a matter of organizing and connecting all of the mini-projects and assigning responsibility.

How to Set Successful Goals

Many people want to know how to better set goals. They might have ideas in mind, but can never get to the point where goals are set forth and achieved. There are many reasons why goals may be hard to plan out and pursue and ways to help. Finding solutions to battle poor goal setting might help you to achieve the goals and dreams you have always wanted.

For some, the concept of setting goals sounds impossible because there are just too many steps along the way. It is often hard to imagine getting somewhere when it sounds like an impossible task to achieve. For example; a singer who has always dreamed of becoming famous, might not even consider pursuing that option because it just seems like a wacky idea. However, if the singer thought about baby steps toward getting there, she or he might think more successfully.

Setting goals involves breaking an idea down into small steps. A great example of this is for someone who is trying to lose weight. They might want to lose a hundred pounds, but this goal might sound like a far one away to have. It can often be hard to stay motivated toward something that doesn`t happen right away. That means that the person who wants to lose weight would be more successful if he/she begins with a lower weight goal. So perhaps they can have a goal that is something like losing two pounds. It doesn`t sound like much, but reaching it can happen fast and create a sense of hope, and a group of two pound loses will soon add up to something much bigger.

Goal setting also involves planning and writing things down. It is find for someone to say that they would like to plan a wedding, or lose weight, or become the boss of a company in the future. But without a solid plan on how to get there, it might never happen. It is best to sit down and make up a plan. A plan should include lots of goals. And those goals should be small ones and large ones. The small goals are things that can happen quickly and are more insight. That may mean that your baby goals might include things like; getting to work on time every day or to find a wedding planner book to get started.

Planning your goals and dreams might take a while. So don`t plan on it being down in five minutes while you eat breakfast. Have a notebook out with some solid goals and have it sit around for a few days or weeks and play around with the ideas you have in there. Some goals might require some research, for example if you`re thinking about returning to school, or some goals might need the help from family and friends. Set yourself up for success and have a plan that takes time to build and expand on.

A great motto to live by is that if you fail to plan…you plan to fail. That means that a well thought out plan with small and big goals is the way to achieve your dreams. Great planning is the key to success and successful planning begins with positive goals. Goals that is reachable and attainable. Once all of your attainable goals are reached you will be moving closer to your bigger goals and showing you the power of being successful.

Use Your Mind Power & Watch Your Personal Growth Soar

The mind is a fascinating piece of equipment. What you feed it is what it churns out. Our whole body’s functions, reflexes and emotional reactions reflect what our mind recognizes as universal truths. Take faith healing for example, the healer is not more powerful than the person needing healing, but it is the latter believing that the former can indeed heal him or her, or that he or she can truly be healed that possesses the true power to make healing possible. Having that powerful tool sitting on each of our shoulders is indeed nothing short of a miracle.

Of course, there are people whose minds are more powerful (or developed) than others, but all of us have inner strengths that we can tap when the situation calls for it. Now I’m sure your question is, “how do we tap these inner strengths”?

No, you don’t have to constantly put yourself in great danger nor do you have to pound your brain to a pulp to get your inner strength to manifest itself. Simply finding your purpose and focusing on this will allow you to gain or call on your inner strength to help you take control of your life.

Quite a lot of times, people take a long time (think years) to discover their life’s purpose. They just know the end result that they want which is often to feel content and fulfilled in life, but more often than not they don’t really know how to achieve this. The key is to probe into your deepest and innermost thoughts to find out what it is you really want in your life.

Once you find your purpose, that which gives you enormous joy and sense of accomplishment, you can now begin to use self-hypnosis or visualization techniques to bring you to act on your self-development goals.

I know this is easier said than done because sometimes life just throws a lot of curve balls at us. We get distracted and we sometimes miss the forest for the trees. Life is really like that, nothing much you can do but to stay focused and persistent. The good thing is it can be done, although it might take a lot more work for some than others. Still, the prospects are a lot better this way than going through life as if you are wandering through a desert not knowing which way to go.

Using visualization or self hypnosis is a good way to keep you at it. When you have a clear picture in your mind that shows you have achieved what it is you have set your eye on, it is just so much easier to stay motivated because you are giving your mind and body the encouragement and support it needs. And we all know how good it feels to feel supported and encouraged, right?

Another thing about visualizations is that it helps us to draw up a process flow or a map so that we can point our mind in the right direction. Think of it as your compass.

Finding your purpose lets you chart out your goals in accordance to achieving that purpose. When you have your goals written down for you it is so much easier to identify the things you need to do to achieve them, right?

What is Self Hypnosis Really?

Bring up “hypnosis” in any discussion and ask others what representation comes to their minds nearly instantly. I’m rather sure they would immediately conjure up a somewhat stereotypical image of a hypnotist waving a pocket watch at a willing target… umm patient, instructing him or her that he or she is slowly falling asleep.

What transpires next depends on which motion picture you saw that particular scene in. However as certain as I’m writing this, the spellbinding session would end with the hypnotist telling the patient that he will count up to three, snap his fingers and the patient would wake up from the sleep, often recalling zero of what occurred through the entire event.

This is what Hollywood hypnotism is, as shown on film. Whether the movie seems to be a massive hit or a major failure, it has achieved one thing: It has persuaded loads of people that hypnosis can manipulate your mind. And the one hypnotized becomes a slave of the hypnotist and does everything he is instructed to only to remember nothing of it later.

In reality, you are rather totally conscious of what you are doing even whilst in a hypnotic trance. The truth is that will not be forced to do something you would not usually and willingly do.

For the duration of hypnotherapy sessions for counseling or therapy, regardless of whether it is you perfoming it on yourself or it’s being done to you by another person, the conscious mind is bypassed to tap straight into to your subconscious mind. But, remember, you are still completely aware of what’s happening.

The subconscious mind processes whatever you hear, see and feel. Sometimes we do not always perceive things with our conscious mind, but is nevertheless being being recorded of by our subconscious, often to be played back in the course of bizarre dreams that don’t seem to make sense at all.

A helpful use of self-hypnosis is to communicate directly with your subconscious mind to instill beliefs or ideas that will assist you to reach an objective or attain a specific goal. In truth, self-hypnosis allows you to override your conscious mind’s predetermined notions about your life and change it to process only your most wanted habits. This is because your subconscious mind is considerably more open to suggestions than your conscious mind.

You can say self-hypnotism offers you a better possibility at accomplishing your goal because it enables you to train your mind to support only belief, thoughts and behaviours that guarantee success.

Not only can you use self hypnosis to create change, but you can also use it as a tool for self discovery. This is because when you deal with your subconscious, you can discover thought patterns and insights into yourself that you may not be aware of.

You can become very enlightened regarding issues that you may even be hiding from yourself. In many cases people even discover feelings and motivations that can help you become a better and more successful person.

It’s definately worth the effort to learn self hypnosis. Once you do, you can use this effective technique to take control of your life. You can access your inner resources more easily and can create the life that you want.

How to Gain Confidence – How to Think Positively

There are a lot of people who spend their days focused on what’s bad about their life. They can talk at length about what is lacking:

“I don’t have a big enough house”

“I don’t earn enough”

“I don’t have a relationship”

This kind of focus on the negatives is common but also very destructive. If you are only focused on the things that are bad in your life, the fact is you will never be happy. The fact is that there will always be something “lacking” in life. Once you have a big house, there will always be a bigger house to strive for. You can always earn more money. There will always be someone better looking than you. You will be forever chasing happiness in the future. This is a recipe for misery.

Although we fool ourselves into thinking everything will be better once we get the great job, the big house and the beautiful partner, the fact is if we retain a negative focus, this doesn’t go away. No amount of external goal achievement will help us.

It’s time to face facts. It’s not the lack of a big house or big salary that is preventing you from being happy. Once you achieve those things, there will always be something else that is lacking to keep you from being happy. The truth is if you focus on what is lacking, that is what is preventing you from being happy.

This can be quite hard to acknowledge or accept. That our happiness doesn’t exist out there. You may have heard the expression before “Happiness is an inside job”

If you focus on what is good in your life, this is a powerful way of shifting the balance of power towards yourself. If you can find happiness in where you are now, that is the key to happiness.

Remember this doesn’t mean you give up all ambition. It doesn’t mean you stop striving to be better. A lot of people fear taking away the dissatisfaction with their current state because they think it will take away their drive. But what it actually does is that it gives you permission to be happy now. And happiness makes achievement of goals more likely not less likely.

Take a few minutes to write down three things you are grateful for. It could be to do with your family, friends or health. It could be because you are one of the privileged few on this planet who have access to an internet connection to read this article.

Think of pleasant experiences you have had in life. Think of all the positive things in your life. Try and feel the full pleasure of all the good things in your life. When you appreciate the positive in your life, you feel more positive. When you feel positive, you will see positive in all the situations in your life.

This happiness and positivity are the cornerstone of true confidence. The more positive you are about yourself, your life and your abilities the more confident you will feel.

Achieve Personal Success

We all strive for success… Isn’t? What is this success? Success, when viewed with a positive mental attitude, is a process, a journey and not a destination.

Success for the husband and wife means making their marriage work with hope that they can celebrate their golden wedding anniversary. Success will mean keeping their family intact with communication lines open.

Success for student means passing the courses in school and developing mind and talents to make a beneficial contribution to the human race.

Success for the surgeon means saving a life!

So what does success finally add up to? A diploma on the wall? A trophy in the case? Money in the bank? Professional honors?? Yes, this is success, but more than this, success is being able to look at yourself in the mirror and be proud of the person you have become!! Success is noblest when it leaves you with self respect that you have become a good steward of life, liberties, possibilities, and opportunities that God offered to you.

By achieving personal success gives you the joy, the real joy, when you look at yourself. As the clich? goes “Don’t love the office you work for, instead love the work you do. Your office may betray you, your work wont.”

The moment you fall in love with your work is the moment you can be sure of your success. Your life is in your hands, and so is success if only you try achieving it. Are we all successful in things that we do?? What is keeping us from success? Why do we limit our own abilities?

The reason for failure is lack of self confidence. No matter how impossible the task may seem, self-confidence is the seed for success. Success is analyzing, recognizing, visualizing, mobilizing and energizing our possibilities and see them turn into realities.

The 1st step towards achieving your personal success is that frame a goal which is both short term and then a long term. Visualize yourself after 10 years. How and where do you want yourself to be?? This clears your mind of any doubts you may have. The next step is to frame short term goals, goals that lead a way towards the main objective. Take a goal, make it your life. Dream of it, breathe it, live it… And don’t fail to love it. “Be the change you want to see”. Seek pleasures in small and beautiful things around you, yet don’t get immersed. Stay focused on your vision, if so, success is all yours. Dare to dream the impossible. Yet work for making your dreams into reality. Dreamers who became doers operate emotionally and rationally with self confidence. When opportunity meets preparedness the outcome is called “luck”, don’t rely on that all your life. Take a goal, make it your life, dream of it, and achieve personal success. With these simple but powerful approaches you can bid good bye to failures and hello to success.

Career and Personal Success

Success is an evolution, not a overnight achievement; A journey not a destination; an unending project , never a single simple accomplishment that stands alone unrelated to the past and disconnected from the future. Career and Personal Success is a never ending process of going through good and bad times, pleasure and pains, ups and downs, ins and outs!

This includes both career and personal. Both are of equal importance in ones life. If there were a formula for success it would look like this

Being + Doing + Having = Success… From inside out,

Many people have this backward. Their formula for success looks like this

Having + Doing +being = Success… from outside in.

A guy I knew was faithfully following this outside in formula. His goal was to make lots of money by the time he was 40 so that he could quit his job, finally do the work he loved, and live the life he really wanted to. He was working long hours to pursue this goal, had a BMW and the latest toys, and yet rarely had time to spend with his wife, friends and family. He couldn’t understand why his life lacked meaning.

Many people have their priorities upside down. They get bogged down in HAVING stage. They can’t get past it to the being state, because they feel they just don’t have enough yet. They think what defines their success is how much money they have, the people they know, the things they posses.

Going through career change, or being a part of a big company with many responsibilities and onus to shoulder on can really be tough. Getting through them, with your personal life intact is a must. This often becomes a blow to your nervous system. There are many sources out there to help you with the job search. Yet, what about the emotional side of yourself? Our emotions often take a back seat when it comes to the career. There are a few steps to get you through the difficult times, where in you cling to your personal life as a life saver, in times of career stresses and transitions.

• It is important to acknowledge your emotions. Feel them and realize them. If you don’t, the emotions will hold you back .Give your emotions the importance they deserve. Talk to a trusted friend. Write your feeling .Cry. Get angry. Feel the fear. Do something physical to release them. Unresolved anger at a boss or company will come through in an interview if you haven’t come in terms with it.

• Monitor your thoughts. Negative thoughts give negative results. Make sure you maintain a positive environment around you. Keep doing things you find gives you pleasure. Reframe those negative thoughts into positive ones.

• Consider the possibilities. Deciding to make a career change, or being restructured out of your job , may just be the break you are looking for. Brainstorm the activities that are now open to you. Travelling, turning a hobby into business, and so on. Get outrageous. Be excited. The sky is the limit. So, don’t step back, till you reach the balance between career and personal life.

With these simple strategies, career and personal success is at your door steps.

Guide to Personal Success

Life isn’t a bed of roses. Success is yours only with your efforts to remove all road blocks. By the end of the day, you would wish to retire to bed with peace and contentment, isn’t? This is feasible, only when you give a priority to what you think is important to you, rather than giving importance to what gives you bread to live. Here is a guide to personal success what you are expected to do, to have a better tomorrow bereft pains and stresses.

1. Desire:

Define the essence of what you wish… May it be more time, money, connection, love, well being, success, fulfillment, fun or peace of mind? That’s where the motivation lies: your touchstone. If it’s not your heart’s desire, then don’t hesitate to drop it, whatever it is. The essence of what you desire is where true motivation lies; your touchstone.

2. Intension:

State out loud or write it down what is that you want. This is the intension that you are sending out to the universe. Your higher power is always ready to assist you whenever you are clear and sincere. Maintain a diary. Write out your achievements daily, both your career and otherwise.

3.Commitment:

Pledge yourself that you will do whatever it takes to make your personal life a smooth one. Let out your ego. Be sure that you apologize to anyone you have hurt in that day. Go to bed with clear conscience. This would improve your and ease your mind of all the troubles in your personal life.

4. Support:

No one is an island here. Extend your support to all you can. 10% of your income towards the education of an illiterate poor child may not only pave a way for better world, but also make you taste the real joy of life. The money that you earn isn’t just for you. This may mean that you go every day with the joy of doing something good, which definitely will improve your mind set up.

5. Action:

“Fill your day with accomplishments, not mere activities.” Engage yourself in works you find interesting. Make sure that you allocate every day for your hobbies. Take time in admiring the bright and beautiful things around you. Pray. Meditate. Take time for yourself.

6. Fine-tune:

Fine tune your body and soul. Make sure you fulfill all your duties and responsibilities. Never procrastinate your personal deeds for the job or for money. At the short run it may be pleasing as it feeds you with more money, but in the long run, it may destruct and destroy your life.Know what you do the best. This introspection and clarity will ease your mind and keep the stress of jobs at bay

So, a meaningful life is all about making adjustments among the personal and career life, yet mange to succeed in both, and take the best out of life. This guide to personal success will surely give boost to your career life instantly.

Are You Close to Cracking Up? Stop Pause and Rethink!

There comes a time in our lives when money, health and relationships fail us when we instinctively realize we are heading for a crash or breakdown. When emotions may rule the day obliterating rational thought. There are many factors that bring us to this place of despair.

Despair is natures signal, that the time has arrived to stop pause and rethink. Without stopping we can’t pause and without pausing it becomes impossible to rethink things. We invite you to stop here for a while. There is always light at the end of the tunnel, no matter how dark it may seem.

After personal experience and much research I found the most common causes of despair to be money, relationships, health, death and grieving. Money and the lack of it brings with it the most unbearable misery, money is such an essential commodity in the modern world, even if you hate it, you must have it to Seek out some kind of existence, even health and relationships bear the brunt of the lack of money.

The answers and solutions to all the above, as hard as it may sound, lies within ourselves. Once we have stopped we can unpack all of our baggage, to pause is a powerful state it allows you to calmly look at what is, look on from the outside and in so doing we reach the solutions, somehow once again we instinctively realize that three quarters of the baggage we have been carrying around with us has just been weighing us down.

Now the time has arrived to Rethink and do what is required to move on to a happier existence others may help and inspire us but is essentially ourselves, that must take the decision to change despair into positive action. Faith is the substance of things hoped for evidence, of things unseen. The providence which handicaps us always, comes to show us what to do. It has the power to change weakness into strength.

It somehow proves that despair has been in existence for a long time when, the quality of life was much simpler than it is today.

Imagine having to get a message to someone in a distant place before Morse code was invented. Today we just reach out to find instant solutions.

Some inspirational quotes for you to consider when, stopping to pause and rethink relationships or any other problem you may be wanting to solve.

“Hope sees the invisible, feels the intangible and achieves the impossible.” Unknown

Work like you don’t need the money, love like you’ve never been hurt and dance like no one is watching.”

~ Randall G Leighton

“Never give up on something that you can’t go a day without thinking about.”

~ Unknown

“Life isn’t about finding yourself. Life is about creating yourself.”

~ Unknown

“When you feel like giving up, remember why you held on for so long in the first place”~ Unknown

“Experience is not what happens to you; it is what you do with what happens to you.”

~ Aldous Huxley

“Yesterday’s the past, tomorrow’s the future, but today is a gift. That’s why it’s called the present.”

After experiencing a space that seemed to be a point of no return or rational thought,I ground to a halt and was forced to pause there for a while, realised that pausing is a powerful state,it allows you to calmly look at what it is. http://www.Stop-Pause-And-Rethink.com
